Eva Orner

Academy and Emmy Award winner Eva Orner is an Australian filmmaker recently back home after ten years based in Los Angeles and New York. Eva’s most recent feature documentary and directorial debut The Network is set behind the scenes at the largest and most successful television network in one of the most unstable and dangerous places on earth, Afghanistan. Eva wrote, directed and produced The Network. It was released theatrically in the US in October 2013 by FilmBuff, is available on Netflix Us and UK, premiered on US television on Pivot, Participant’s new television network in 2014. It has screened and won awards at festivals around the world including SXSW and Sheffield and has sold extensively for television. Dogwoof are selling the film internationally.

Eva’s US producing credits include the feature documentaries Taxi To The Dark Side, Gonzo: The Life And Work Of Dr. Hunter S Thompson, The Human Behavior Experiments and Herbie Hancock’s Possibilities. Her work has screened at festivals including Cannes, Sundance, Tribeca and Sydney, has been released theatrically and sold to television across the globe.

Eva is fearless. In the past few years she spent three months living in Afghanistan where she dodged bullets and suicide bombings, almost stepped on a landmine and had the time of her life. A few months prior to Afghanistan Eva broke her foot in Pristina, Kosovo. Eva has recently returned from Beirut where she is shooting her latest feature documentary Out of Iraq about gay Iraqi refugees seeking asylum in the US. She is currently back in her native Australia shooting Bloody UnAustralian her latest feature documentary tackling the divisive and highly charged issue of asylum seekers.

Eva has written, directed and produced a number of large industrials for the NRDC, the largest environmental lobby group in the world. She has worked with people as varied as Johnny Depp to Sheryl Crow to Graydon Carter.

Eva is known for putting everyday people at ease in front of the camera and making them look beautiful. Not a lot fazes Eva. She is simply obsessed with great stories and finding them an audience.
